Tarek Fatah’s Uphill Battle

On December 8 Tarek Fatah presented his new book The Jew Is Not My Enemy and shared his thoughts on Islamism at a presentation organized by the Speakers Action Group and the Canadian Jewish Civil Rights Organization.

It is difficult to write about him. Not because of his personality – he is a likable and eloquent speaker with great sense of humour, combined with strong and very clear convictions. The problem is that he is one of the few Muslims in Canada who openly oppose the Islamofascist danger and that puts him in a unique position between the two sides of the conflict.

In the introduction by the Speakers Action Group he was defined as an outspoken fighter against sharia and Islamic fundamentalism. His new book was conceived after his reflection on what happened during his recent visit to Pakistan. He saw a man in the street, who was explaining to everybody that the Jews created the bird flu virus and tried to infect with it the Muslims. When Fatah asked him for more information about his views, the man gave him a copy of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which “revealed” the sinister Jewish plot.

Tarek Fatah took the stage and continued from that case and stated a paradox. There are no Jews in Pakistan. Most of the Pakistanis who hate Jews with passion have never met one. Yet they have much worse animosity toward them than the Arabs.

Before the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the Islamists went through long preparation in two Pakistani villages. Two Canadian Muslims were very actively involved in the preparation. The terrorists didn’t plan to destroy Hindu temples. They went to Mumbai looking for the Jewish Centre knowing perfectly well that with such a complex task they will not come back alive. All that shows that there is something fundamentally wrong with the Muslim youth today.

They are subjected to powerful Islamic propaganda, which makes them turn against the Western world. This happens in the jails in the USA. It happens even in Canada, sometimes very openly – just look at the people who hand out Muslim propaganda every day in front of the Eaton Centre in Toronto.

And the weird thing is that after all those terrorist attacks, the number of the Muslims that the Islamists have killed is much, much higher than the number of the Jews.

The problem is that the anti-Jewish hatred is not an isolated phenomenon. It is a symptom of hatred of the West at large – where men and women are equal, they can go to the same places without any restrictions whatsoever. They try to change that by imposing the ideas of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The government and the media try to hide the fact that many Muslims are extremists. If we had the same attitude in 1941, the Western countries would have still been under Hitler’s rule.

We deceive ourselves that with our half-measures we would be able to achieve de-radicalization. The claims that the prisoners at Guantanamo have been reformed are myth. All Saudis, who were released from that place eventually became terrorists in Yemen.

We are facing a fascist movement and the horror of the situation is that we know very little about it. The people, who rule our society, refuse to analyze that movement and deal with it, because of the perceived guilt of the West – all other nations and religions, including Muslims, are considered victims. The situation gives the new fascists a free hand. That is not even limited with a particular political party – both Bush and Obama had the same attitude.

For over a thousand years the Arabs have not contributed anything to the civilization. The countries in the United Arab Emirates have practiced slavery until recently, yet Canada’s Defense Minister proudly wore a cap with “Emirates” written on it.

The Muslim Brotherhood controls the prayer rooms and the public schools and universities, yet we can’t say anything about that, otherwise we will   be branded “Islamophobic”.

Even NDP is under Islamist control. One of its top leaders was a member of Hezbollah. Scholars and intellectuals support that madness without thinking.

Of course, the issue of the Muslim role in the fate of the Jews is complex. Many Muslims died during World War II trying to save Jews. The Albanian King Zog in the late 1930’s tried to save several hundred German Jews by issuing Albanian passports. On the other hand there were quite a few on the side of Germany – the notorious Mufti of Jerusalem was an avid Hitler’s supporter. There were also Muslim military units in the Balkan countries and in Poland, which committed many atrocities against Jews and Slavic people.

We have to distinguish between Muslims and Islamists. That’s what his book is about. It is a difficult fight, which involves the whole humanity.

To be successful in it, we have to cherish the accomplishments of our civilization and our freedoms. Yet our government values our freedoms so low, that they are willing to sell us to the Emirates Airlines and flood our country with Saudi students. We shouldn’t abandon the values of our civilization, built upon the achievements of countless scholars and philosophers, like Hobbes, Voltaire, Rousseau, Marx, etc. It is based on equality and respect.

In the Q&A period Tarek Fatah cleared further his views. He re-emphasized the necessity to identify the enemy and clearly call them Islamofascists. Tarik Ramadan, a Muslim fundamentalist, was appointed by the Notre Dame University for being an exotic scholar, without analyzing deeper his terrible views.

George Galloway is supported and promoted because of his “cute” accent, while the people who do that totally ignore his views.

Tarek Fatah has fought for decades against all that, he didn’t wake up on September 11with the realization “Oh, my God, the Muzzies are coming!” to start his work. He was aware of the problem since the 1960’s when few people dared to confront it.

In response to a question about the dialogue groups between Jews and Muslims, Tarek Fatah criticized the way they are created. The problem is that many Jews would accept anything in order to be liked and avoid trouble. Often those groups would go to a picnic, then to Niagara Falls and other places, and maybe, just maybe somebody would ask: “What do think of Israel?” And during the whole time the 10,000-pound gorilla in the room, the Muslims’ opinion about Israel, is ignored. Those groups should discuss the issue from the very beginning; otherwise the dialogue wouldn’t make sense.

So that was the presentation of Tarek Fatah, an open and passionate person and a great speaker.

I still don’t know how to classify his views. He mentioned in his speech that he considered himself a “secular Muslim”. That term is difficult to figure out, because Islam holds a death grip over the lives and minds of everyone, who has had the misfortune to be born Muslim.

To claim that you are a Muslim and at the same you have the ability to practice secularism sounds like an oxymoron to me. Islam doesn’t allow any deviations from its “truths”, because they are heresy, which is punished severely. On the other hand, Tarek may have come up with some revolutionary idea to change Islam.

However, at this moment his work looks like a titanic uphill battle, which is highly appreciated by the thinking people of Canada, but hasn’t achieved much in changing the Muslims.

Recently he was challenged to a dispute by a certain imam named Sheharyar Shaikh. It is supposed to take place on January 29, 2011. On that website they have put Tarek’s picture with a caption: Tarek Fatah, a perverted liberal secularist “Muslim”. What a charming definition.

That may give you a rough idea about what the debate would look like. Under the announcement, you can find numerous comments by righteous Muslims (with varying degrees of literacy), who, like hyenas smelling blood, salivate at the idea of seeing Tarek crash and burn after the wise imam shatters his perverted secularism. That will be interesting to watch, but they would probably refuse to let kafirs into the mosque.

Since secular Canada will be of little help in that confrontation, let’s wish him to get out of there without many body injuries.

Here at World Spinner we are debating the same thing……

I was anticipating some news about tonight’s debate on Tarek’s facebook page when I returned home. I was not surprised to see that the debate was canceled under the circumstances which unfolded. Tarek has every reason to fear for his safety… tonight’s events are further proof of that.
Tarek Fatah is beacon of truth in a sea of lies. Thank you for sharing this information.

Rubbish. Non-Muslims were permitted in the NAMF mosque, as were media cameras with tripods, as were video cameras and cellphones by the general public. Tarek Fatah has made a whole bunch of false allegations against NAMF hoping that the gullible and brainwashed mainstream public would, already having a bias against Islam, swallow his lies “hook, line, and sinker.” The man clearly chickened out because his version of reformed Islam could not stand up to the scrutiny of his peers. So much for being a brave crusader against Islamism, a beacon of hope in a sea of lies, blah, blah….

I know, Islam is a wonderful club of highly compassionate humanitarians, guarantors of the world peace. Tarek Fatah is an evil Jew-servant who wants to destroy the Muslim harmony.

By the way, didn’t you notice that the post you commented on had nothing to do with Tarek’s failed mosque appearance?

  4. Faith says:

Some opponents of Tarek have posted their arguments against Tarek’s reasons for not attending the debate– http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mibnb8rg-dA or type “When Fatah Fled” into YouTube search.

That’s great, they have their right to express their opinion. Still, that doesn’t explain why Tarek was treated like that – by imposing as a moderator a pro-Islamist pastor, who has been deeply involved in the mosque’s activities.

And people who attended still remember how many the audience yelled “Allahu Akbar” when it was announced that Tarek would not show up.
