Why don't we just shut down Israel?

Why is it that whenever I travel, I miss the most exciting events in Toronto? That’s what happened yesterday: as my airplane was touching ground at the Pearson airport, JDL-Canada was holding an event in support of the English Defense League.

So I missed the event, but there were enough people present there to tell what happened (see Blazingcatfur). Apparently as all members and guests of JDL were peacefully conducting their rally in the building, a small group of about 20 mad “progressives” in front of the Zionist Centre did their best to disturb them. Across the street they had another group with approximately the same number. While the police were trying to get the situation under control, few of those wackos attacked an officer who had to be taken to the hospital (reportedly with broken ribs). As a result several people were arrested.

Who were the people present there? Judging from the list of the organizations that endorsed the protest, they were members of the following:


It’s a nice list: insane revolutionaries, pro-Muslim activists, Arabs, self-loathing Jews and many others in between. The only odd fact is that the impressive number of 32 world-changing organizations managed to produce only about 40 protesters. It all sounds too familiar to me, I have seen them all before, which brings us to the pictures in the beginning of this post. I took both of them during the G20 Summit riots in Toronto last summer.

Look at the first one: the whole menagerie of creatures that protest against everything is right there. The wacky girl with dreadlocks and colour tattoos, who thinks she makes a bold political statement by wearing the disgusting Arafat scarf… The fat union worker with hard hat, who has been mooching off the capitalist system forever, yet he feels compelled to take Chairman Mao’s stand on rebellion… The leftover hippies, who still think they should change the world… And most important, the revolutionary bums with veiled faces, who at the moment still march peacefully (that’s near Queen’s Park), but few blocks further on would take out the hidden sticks to break the windows of the small businesses that pay the taxes, which cover their welfare cheques… What a pathetic bunch marching under those red flags (the only thing missing is a Che Guevara T-shirt).

The second one is a picture of the mini-demonstration of Neturei Karta, which took place the same day (behind the Parliament Building). Well, that one defies logic altogether. A group of Orthodox Rabbis who are against the existence of Israel – they even write it as “Israel” as it is customary in any self-respecting Al Qaida publication. It is hard to see, but one of them is waving the Palestinian flag.

So what does that riff-raff have in common? Why did they gang up against EDL and JDL?

That’s not hard to figure out. All they want is the destruction of our civilization. In their sick minds they all have the “best” recipes for building a new society. Yet they don’t notice that their existence is possible only in this society.  Do you think that in a Marxist state those “revolutionaries” would be let to roam free at government’s expense? No, all of them would be forced to work (with the most enterprising of them becoming prison guards). And the unions will have to part with the plump benefits possible only in a prosperous capitalist country. They don’t have any sensible goal, but they are convenient tools for the religious fanatics, who want to take over the West.

JDL does not want to destroy our civilization (and the same applies to EDL). Their purpose is to preserve the values that made our progress possible. No society in history has ever survived after betraying its own values.

JDL-Canada is a peaceful organization, which had strictly adhered to the Canadian laws at every one of its events. When they protested the anti-Jewish sentiments expressed by Toronto Star’s writers, the demonstration was peaceful. When they confronted the participants of the fundraiser for the Canadian Gaza boat supposed to help the Hamas terrorists, everything went on smoothly, without a trace of violence, although some of the people on the other side would have loved to get into a fight.

That track of strict control makes more than puzzling the remarks of some at CJC that JDL somehow contributed to the violence on Tuesday. The logic behind them is understandable: if you lie low, the lefties and the fundamentalists will supposedly leave you alone. Yes, that may work once, if you keep quiet in your basement pretending you are dead, the Cossacks may pass by your house, but they will get you for sure during the next pogrom.

Anti-Semitism is the last refuge of the lazy, the stupid and the social misfits, who need to justify their useless existence. Going after somebody who is successful and destroying them is the easiest way to get noticed and create in your mind the illusion that you do something important. It is also a way for some of those young “revolutionary” misfits to impress girls, since it is easier to demonize somebody and assault him than to build success on your own.

Pretending that those destructive forces don’t exist and leaving them out of control is the surest way to put an end to our society as we know it.

    In 1517, the Turks controlled the Middle East for 400 years. In 1917, the British won the war due to the help of the brilliant Jewish chemist Cheim Weizman. As a result, Lord Balfour gave the Jews their homeland consisting of all of Jordan and the land west of the Jordan River. This was called the Balfour Agreement.

    In 1920, the League of Nations ratified the Balfour Agreement. In 1922, under pressure from the Arabs, the British and the League of Nations took away Jordan. The Jews and the Arabs signed this agreement. In 1947, the UN offered the Partition Plan, but the Arabs rejected it. When the United Nations recognized Israel as a nation on May 14, 1948, the Arabs declared war on Israel. Israel defended herself, but Jordan took the West Bank. In the 1967 war Israel took back the West Bank which was legally hers by international law.

    Historical Importance: The 1917 letter that made public the British support of a Jewish homeland in Palestine led the League of Nations to entrust the United Kingdom with the Palestine Mandate in 1922.

    Overview of the Balfour Declaration: The Balfour Declaration, a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Lord Rothschild in which the British made public their support of a Jewish homeland in Palestine, was a product of years of careful negotiation. After centuries of living in a diaspora, the 1894 Dreyfus Affair in France shocked Jews into realizing they would not be safe from arbitrary anti-semitism unless they had their own country. In response, Jews created the new concept of political Zionism in which it was believed that through active political maneuvering, a Jewish homeland could be created. Zionism was becoming a popular concept by the time World War I began. During World War I, Great Britain needed help. Since Germany (Britain’s enemy during WWI) had cornered the production of acetone — an important ingredient for arms production — Great Britain may have lost the war if Chaim Weizmann had not invented a fermentation process that allowed the British to manufacture their own liquid acetone. It was this fermentation process that brought Weizmann to the attention of David Lloyd George (minister of ammunitions) and Arthur James Balfour (previously the British prime minister but at this time the first lord of the admiralty). Chaim Weizmann was not just a scientist; he was also the leader of the Zionist movement. Weizmann’s contact with Lloyd George and Balfour continued, even after Lloyd George became prime minister and Balfour was transferred to the Foreign Office in 1916. Additional Zionist leaders such as Nahum Sokolow also pressured Great Britain to support a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Though Balfour, himself, was in favor of a Jewish state, Great Britain particularly favored the declaration as an act of policy. Britain wanted the United States to join World War I and the British hoped that by supporting a Jewish homeland in Palestine, world Jewry would be able to sway the U.S. to join the war. Though the Balfour Declaration went through several drafts, the final version was issued on November 2, 1917, in a letter from Balfour to Lord Rothschild, president of the British Zionist Federation. The main body of the letter quoted the decision of the October 31, 1917 British Cabinet meeting. This declaration was accepted by the League of Nations on July 24, 1922 and embodied in the mandate that gave Great Britain temporary administrative control of Palestine.

    In 1939, Great Britain reneged on the Balfour Declaration by issuing the White Paper, which stated that creating a Jewish state was no longer a British policy. It was also Great Britain’s change in policy toward Palestine, especially the White Paper, that prevented millions of European Jews to escape from Nazi-occupied Europe to Palestine.

    “His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.”
