Toronto Rally for Democracy in Libya… Sort of
A demonstration against the Libyan dictator Moamar Kaddafi (or Gaddafi or Katafi or Gheddhafi or Khaddafi or whatever other name he uses) took place in Toronto last Saturday, February 26.
There were actually two demonstrations, which marched on Dundas Square at the same time. One of them, with more participants, was strictly Libyan. The smaller one consisted of Iraqis, who wanted democracy in Iraq and among their chants you could hear calls for al-Maliki, the Prime Minister, to resign. They maybe wanted more, but for some reason all their signs were in Arabic. Strange, isn’t it? One may think that they should have translated them in English to make the Canadian public understand and support their demands. As you know, in our multicultural country, as of now, Arabic is not a compulsory subject at school. (But maybe they just wanted to hide those demands…)
The Libyan demonstration was much better prepared. Their signs were well-designed and pre-printed. Most of them had at the lower edge the name of the organization, which organized the event – Toronto Arab Solidarity Campaign.
According to Torontopedia’s entry about that organization, this is a city-wide network that supports the movements for freedom and democracy throughout the Arab world. It includes both Arab and non-Arab members, and organizations such as the Canadian Coptic Association, the Egyptian National Association for Change, the Canadian Arab Federation, the Canadian Peace Alliance, and the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War.
That tells you enough. The notorious CAF has been involved in suppressing free speech for years. The Egyptian National Association for Change was formed last year with the participation of representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood. Both the Canadian Peace Alliance and the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War are extremely left anti-Israeli and anti-Western organizations, which were heavily involved in bringing the terrorist supporter George Galloway to Canada. As of the Canadian Coptic Association, they are needed as useful idiots to make the group look less extremist.
Nevertheless, the purpose of the demonstration was noble. Who could have thought that the Crazy Colonel would end up like that? There is an old Russian saying that even God protects the crazy people. In the case of Gaddafi that worked flawlessly for decades. He came to power as an absolutely inexperienced junior army officer. Then he introduced a bizarre form of sharia socialism, explained in the Green Book (a superb work of unintended humor, which I highly recommend, if you can find it). Read the rest of this entry »
Muslims Anxiously Awaiting Polygamy’s Legalization in Canada
Just when you think that Canada’s multicultural mess can’t get any worse, something new always comes up. The case in question this time are the court proceedings going on in Bountiful, British Columbia. The judge must decide whether the small rogue Mormon sect there has the right to practice polygamy.
If you think that this is an exotic story worthy only of an HBO show like Big Love, about Bill Henrickson and his three wives, think again.
The trial is anxiously watched by an influential part of the Muslim community in Canada, which desperately wants to make polygamy an integral part of the Canadian life.
Winnipeg Free Press, which made the story public (with information from The Canadian Press), quotes an interview with imam Aly Hindi and he is not ashamed or concerned about his opinion at all:
Aly Hindi, an outspoken imam at Salaheddin Islamic Centre in Scarborough, Ont., said there are more than 200 polygamous Muslim marriages in the Greater Toronto Area alone. The figure is impossible to verify as polygamy among Muslim and other immigrant groups in Canada is often shrouded in mystery.
Hindi believes banning polygamy is harmful to women.
“If the three adults — the husband, the first wife and (the other) women — have consent, I don’t think the government should interfere in this,” Hindi said in a telephone interview.
By disallowing polygamy, the government is encouraging affairs, he told The Canadian Press.
“This is unjust law drawn by men who do not want to carry responsibility for the second woman,” Hindi said.
Hindi would not say how many polygamous marriages he has officiated at, but he did say that he has witnessed marriages where both women celebrated the relationship, contrary to popular views of polygamy.
Advocates say polygamy is justified in the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad himself is often cited as an example of being able to marry more than one woman. According to Surat al Nisaa, the “Book of Women” in the Islamic holy book, it is permissible to marry up to four women.
So we have here a “cleric” who openly admits that he and other Muslims in Canada have broken the law. Since when the ramblings of a medieval desert war lord supersede the Canadian common law, which guarantees equal rights to all individuals? Read the rest of this entry »
Wisconsin Union Parasites, Unite!
The dairy state is under siege. The attempts of the new government to do something to reduce the huge deficit are met with hostility by the public unions.
The proposal to reduce the unions’ collective bargaining power (i.e. their extortionist ability) and limit their power of getting mandatory fees from every worker are met with outrage. Even more outrageous they consider the request to pay part of their pension and health care contributions.
The government buildings in Madison are surrounded by demonstrators, who although teachers, hold posters and yell slogans more worthy of deep woods hillbillies. They don’t even go to work, but use sick leaves (on false grounds) to demonstrate against the government and get paid at the same time.
14 of the Wisconsin state legislators, all democrats, have left the state trying to prevent the voting on the new proposals. That, of course, doesn’t prevent them from getting their pay checks. Like good urban guerrillas they are hiding so well that even the state troopers can’t find them.
All this is such a great illustration of what cancerous formation the public unions are. Even at times when the USA is nearly bankrupt and Barry Obama is bending over even more to accommodate his masters from China and Saudi Arabia, the only ones still willing to lend money for his socialism, the unions continue to live in their bubble.
A curious argument they use is that the $3.6 billion Wisconsin deficit is not their fault and they shouldn’t be forced to pay for it. The main thing that public employees fail to notice is that they don’t produce anything. They provide services for which they are paid by the taxpayers. Read the rest of this entry »
The Campus Jew as Endangered Species, Part 1
A conference under the topic When Middle East Politics Invade Campus took place in Toronto on February 16. It was organized by Advocates for Civil Liberties , a relatively new organization, whose purpose is to counter anti-Semitism.
It was a very interesting and enlightening event, for which the organizers assembled an impressive group of speakers – students, respected scholars and well-known journalists. Many important issues were discussed, which will make it impossible to cover everything in one post (that’s why I am breaking the coverage into several parts).
Discussing anti-Semitism is not a popular issue in Canada. Jews are usually herded in one group with the “privileged whites”, which does not deserve the attention of the human rights “industry”, although now and then you may hear about an action taken against some neo-Nazi weirdo who is not known to anybody outside of his family. The real perpetrators of anti-Semitism – the radical Islam and the militant leftists – rarely get any attention, because in Canada they are considered fighters for “social justice” and to the HRC they are more important than the Jewish “plutocrats”.
The purpose of the conference was to bring to public attention the disturbing phenomenon of campus anti-Semitism, which has steadily grown over the last few years. For those who don’t attend college now, it’s probably difficult to understand the situation.
That’s why, before going into the conference’s details, I would like to explain the problem through the lens of a particular event, which in a nutshell reveals what’s wrong with the university campuses in Canada and the USA.
The event is George Galloway’s speech at York University last year (I have first-hand impressions because I attended the protest and covered it). Bringing in outside speakers is a great university tradition. However, they didn’t pick any of the thousands bright people of conscience, who can share their accomplishments, they picked instead Galloway, a strange and scary character. He is mentally disturbed (here you can see his cat impression on the Big Brother show). He raised AND delivered funds to Hamas, a well-known terrorist organization. He was kicked out of the British Parliament. In his opinion, Israel should be replaced by a country named Palestine-Israel dominated by Arabs, after 7 million “refugees” return (he said this and more during his visit to Toronto in October last year, more here). He thinks that the only great Jew is Karl Marx.
It’s sad, the Left must have run out of Che Guevaras, if they need to promote that creepy guy. The event was funded by the university and the student federation with money paid by all students. The protests of the Jewish students and organizations were ignored.
Days before the event, Rabbi Aaron Hoch from Toronto called his congregation in an e-mail to protest. When the York University President Shoukri (an Egyptian Muslim) and his staff found out, they threatened the Rabbi with legal action. As a response, Hoch made public the letters they sent. That caused even more rage from the university (all that became public after the speech).
An hour before Galloway’s speech, there were already protesters in the building, students and people from the community. The police and the security allocated for them a small corner in the same building (if it wasn’t for the pouring rain, they could have been pushed outside).
The Jewish protesters were surrounded from all sides and carefully watched and not allowed to move to other areas (except outside). Several of the University security guards were almost constantly taping them with video cameras. In the hall nearby, Galloway’s speech proceeded uninterrupted.
At certain point, Krisna Saravanamuttu, the president of the student federation and a large group of Muslim students rushed into the crowd of protesters and started chanting anti-Israeli slogans. The police did absolutely nothing to stop them. After few minutes they left. Guess who would have been arrested, if the Jewish students responded to the provocation?
So we had a crowd of Jews confined in a small space and watched by guards and police, who protected a raging madman giving a speech on how he is going to resolve the Israeli problem once and for all. Didn’t something like that happen few decades ago in a certain European country? And we all know what the consequences were…
When I went home, I wrote a post about that and added pictures. The next day I received e-mails from Jewish students, who asked me to remove the pictures, because they were threatened with disciplinary action for taking part in the protest. I never censor my posts, but for the sake of their safety I had to do it (later I restored the pictures). Fortunately, few days later the scandal with Rabbi Hoch exploded and reached the national media. Having his real face exposed, Shoukri wasn’t in a position to persecute students. But hey, there is always a second chance for revenge – Shoukri and Saravanamuttu can go after any Jew who dares protest against the upcoming “Israeli Apartheid Week”.
It is despicable that a group of people can be treated in such an appalling way in Canada in the 21st century. Imagine what would’ve happened if an anti-Black speaker was invited – CBC and CNN would cover and recycle the story for years; the university administration would be gone and squads of counselors, psychologists and therapists would swarm the campus to console the offended Black students.
Why isn’t the same standard applied to Jewish students? Nobody knows, but there are many people who want to know why.
All this is happening at a university where Jewish donors have contributed tens of millions of dollars with the naïve hope that they are contributing to the cause of education. Instead the money went to the cause of bigotry.
This is not an unusual isolated case, it is the everyday life of thousands of Jewish students in North America.
And that’s why we need forums like this conference, which puts those questions into an open discussion.
Anyway, I hope the case of crazy George and his Muslim buddies would make the issues discussed easier to put in perspective.
Jonathan Kay from National Post was the moderator for the conference.
It started with opening remarks by Judge Hadassa Ben Itto. She is prominent judge living in Israel and her statement was delivered by video.
She started by discussing the “Protocols of Elders of Zion” a known forgery created in Russia in the early 20th century, which has been used as an excuse to persecute Jews. For decades, the Protocols have been a tool to demonize Jews. Although proven to be a fake, they have been published and sold every year in many countries. Since the creation of the Jewish state, not only the Jews, but also Israel have become targets. Those writings perpetrate the myth of the omnipotent Jewish lobby, which wants to dominate the world. In some countries, like France and Germany they are not allowed to be published, but most other countries don’t have those restrictions. Besides that, in the times of Internet any restrictions of publication are impossible to implement. Read the rest of this entry »
Free Speech Bashing Party with Senator Poy, Haroon Siddiqui and the Equity Guys
Frankly, before I arrived, I thought that was some kind of a general discussion on race. I was surprised to find out that it was a witch-hunt gathering specifically organized to attack two publications’ right to free speech, namely MacLean’s magazine and Toronto Star for publishing “racist” articles. I would never thought I live to see the day when the lefties accuse Toronto Star of racism (after all that rich rag would publish any Canada-bashing materials to appease the “vulnerable”).
The event could’ve been dismissed like any other OISE loon meeting, if it weren’t for the presence of Vivienne Poy, who is a Senator. The fact that she supports that had a chilling effect on me. After all, she is a federal politician. It reminded me of the public meetings at my university in Europe when it was necessary to condemn and destroy somebody, who dared say something that differed from the Party line.
The only consolation, which prevented the event from turning into a horror show, was that Olivia Chow somehow missed it.
The organizers had prepared all the props necessary for a successful campaign as required by the rules of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. They had red buttons with slogans: Too Asian for MacLean’s and Too Asian for Rogers (only $2 each). You could see on the table the little paper envelopes, which Chinese use to exchange money for the New Year, but with the same buttons inside.
And the most important prop was a petition, ready to sign. It listed MacLean’s’s sins, which included not only the article Too Asian, but also the Muslim case (which involved Mark Steyn) and the recent Quebec article. That’s a really well organized attack of the usual bunch of whining organizations.
As a retribution, the petition wanted from the government to stop any funding for MacLean’s. For some unknown reason, Toronto Star wasn’t mentioned in it.
For the record, I read that “controversial” article. It discusses some real cultural differences and if anything, it is denigrating to the white students, who are presented as discouraged by the high achievements of the Chinese students. You must be a really petty and vindictive person to find racism in the article.
The meeting was opened with a blessing by a U of T professor, who was native. She lit up some incense and started talking waving around a feather. Is this the fashionable thing to do among the lefties? An Indian did the same thing at the Arizona shooting victims memorial, which Obama attended as well. She said she did for cleansing and bringing in peace, especially for her ancestors from the Mississauga lands. She had a long laundry list of entities, creatures and spirits that she had to thank. Mother Earth and the water, the grass and the plants, which help us, the birds that fulfill their obligations… There were special thanks for the eagle that provided her feather… Thanks to the sun for giving life, to Grandmother Moon who regulates the waters and gives us children.
It’s beyond me how the “progressives” who denigrate any religion (except Islam) can seriously promote that rambling. But I guess that’s the catch – if you say something against it, you’ll be labelled a heartless anti-Native bigot.
Then the chairman (or chair?) of the gathering, a guy with a shaved head whose name I didn’t catch, said that the issue to be discussed concerned two articles – the MacLean’s magazine’s and another one in Toronto Star. Apology was not enough, the protesters wanted from the culprits to make changes in their way of work to ensure fair reporting. Many organizations (mostly Chinese and other Asian) as well as students have condemned the articles for their racism. According to him, these were not the first transgressions of the Canadian press. Muslims were targeted before by MacLean’s. The Native community was accused of smuggling cigarettes and their peaceful protest in Caledonia was presented as something horrible. (Don’t they smuggle tax-free cigarettes? There are many people who buy from them. As of the Caledonia, you must be really thick to deny that a bunch of armed Native thugs terrorized the working people there for months with the silent approval of the police; the same people who pay for the Native welfare cheques!).
Then he presented the “tribunal”: Vivienne Poy (a Senator appointed by Chretien). She is from a powerful Chinese Canadian clan (related to the former Governor General Clarkson), just like the powerful clan of Jack, Olivia and their son. The next was Haroon Siddiqui, Toronto Star’s resident Islamist. In the list of his achievements they mentioned that she got an award for work on redefining of the Canadian identity (wonderful!).
Then came the “equity guys”, the last three panellists were involved in different ways in the multi-culti forces: Jill Matus, Vice Provost Students, University of Toronto; Rinaldo Walcott, Chair, Sociology and Equity Studies, U of T, and Danielle Sandhu, Vice President Equity, U of T Student Union.
It was important to listen to Senator Poy’s words, because that’s probably what the position of the Liberal Party on freedom of press is. Here is what she had to say.
MacLean’s doesn’t represent the Canadian media at large; it works only for the right-wing segment of the population. She received many angry letters protesting the article, mostly from Asian people (she didn’t say how many). Instead of bridging the differences, the magazine tries to introduce division into the society.
Is this a free speech issue? No, because there are limits, not all speech is acceptable. Promoting division is not what the Canadian journalism is all about. Canadian journalism is less sensational than its American counterpart and we should keep it that way. She supported her observation with a quote from Michael Moore. In his documentary “Bowling for Columbine”, he compared the very crime rate of Detroit with a virtual lack of crime in Windsor. He concluded that Canada has fewer crimes because of the better media.
The Attack of the Hijab Hairdresser
This is how a performance of the National Ballet of Canada would probably look in the future after an extensive training in multicultural sensitivity conducted by the Human Rights Commission and whichever Muslim organization handles the sharia compliance. If you don’t believe me, please read on…
It’s official! The hijab is the most powerful weapon for wealth redistribution available in Canada.
Few days ago we covered the case of Maxcine Telfer who was fined $36,000 for disagreeing with the weird hijab that one of her Muslim employees wore, even though the employment continued for only 6 weeks. If it wasn’t for the upper court decision on appeal, she would have lost her house to satisfy the “human rights” sadists. In that post we predicted that the hijab would become a nice tool of money extortion, liberally applied by Muslim fanatics.
That was like a psychic prediction, which almost immediately came true. Now we have a Muslim hairdresser who is going to sue her employer on the ground of the mighty hijab. The ominous parallel to the previous case is that she was employed for 6 weeks before she attacked her hair salon where she worked.
The details of the case in the news piece that announced it are quite sketchy, but anyone who has dealt with the human rights commission horror can form an opinion.
A Muslim woman named Mehwish Ali was dismissed from her job as a hairstylist at a Pickering (Ontario) salon after 6 weeks of work (that was part of a three-month probation period).
According to her story, she was let go because few days before the dismissal she wore a hijab at work for a first time. The company owners, Mylene and Rob Facchini, told her that the scarf wasn’t consistent with the nature of the company, which was supposed to promote hair styling. Read the rest of this entry »
Egypt’s Camel Revolution
In a popular video, available in several versions on YouTube, you can ses the large square in Cairo occupied by the protesters who wanted a change in Egypt. The next thing you see are some unidentified subjects who rush into the square on galloping camels. Are they good or bad guys? Who knows, everything looks so chaotic. To a great extend, those camels symbolize the Egyptian “revolution.”
What exactly did the protesters want? Apparently they agreed on one issue – they wanted President Mubarak to go. They saw him as a source of all misfortunes of their country. Then they wanted jobs and democracy, at least according to the progressive Western correspondents.
With Mubarak out of the way, the first demand was fulfilled, but nobody knows what is going to happen next. With the military taking over and the largest opposition party dominated by Muslim fanatics, I guess you can’t expect anything good. Today there was a report that three Christian churches in Egypt were attacked and looted. On the other “revolutionary front”, Tunisia, things are not going well either. Italy has declared emergency because thousands of Tunisian refugees have flooded Sicily. Perhaps the Egyptians will follow them; the free money and food provided by the fools from the European Union are more attractive than a revolution.
Amidst the euphoria caused by the “victory” we can ask: is there any chance that they will build a free and democratic Egypt? The short answer is: absolutely not.
The whole situation reminds me my own experience as a very young man in the distant 1989, when I and thousands like me were conducting our own “revolution” in one of the Eastern European country. Just like our Egyptian colleagues, we were yelling, jumping up and down demanding the end of tyranny. Fortunately, nobody of us got killed, but we took our fair share of beating. The Battle for Galilee
That fact is disturbing because Galilee is undisputed Israeli land. (Or shall I say that so far the lefties and the Arabs have not come up with a “theory” to dispute its ownership?)
In his introduction Meir Weinstein, JDL-Canada’s Director, that the problem is just a part of what Israel is facing now. With the new events in the Middles East, the anti-Israeli forces are getting more and more active. The hypocrites who call for boycott of Israel never seem to notice the rampant intolerance in the Arab countries. If one looks at the historic sites in Israel, he may notice many Christian and Arab sites, but very few Jewish. That’s because the Jewish heritage has been deliberately destroyed through the centuries. From that point of view, it is important to support Nathan Eisner’s organization in its work to keep Israeli land from being taken over.
Mr. Eisner started his presentation with an enlightening documentary. For centuries, Galilee has been abandoned land of rocky hills and swamps. The Arabs living nearby never had any interest in it. When Mark Twain visited in the late XIX century he made a notice of the depressing landscape.
Things started to change in the early 1900’s when the first Jewish settlers started to arrive. Without any machinery, through hard work they transformed the rocky desert into agricultural land. They dried the swamps and many suffered from malaria while doing that enormous task. Once the dirty work was done, the Arabs started to show up in the area looking for jobs.
With the increase of the Arab population, the problems increased. Showing total disregard for property, they began to build illegal buildings right in the middle of agricultural land. Soon the buildings multiplied to become villages. Read the rest of this entry »
Ontario Human Rights Inquisition on Trial
The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal is under attack. This time the hit didn’t come from its disgruntled victims, it was delivered by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The court shredded into pieces a recent decision of the Tribunal, which would have left a hard working woman homeless. The HRT and HRC are usually called kangaroo courts, but after this case using that name would be an insult to all kangaroos in Australia.
There are three main characters in this tragic case, which was eventually brought to the attention of the upper court: the accuser Seema Saadi (a Bangladeshi Muslim), the accused Maxcine Telfer (a Black businesswoman), and the adjudicator Faisal Bhabha (Muslim). It is important to mention the race and religion of the participants, because they are at the bottom of that travesty of justice.
Ms. Telfer was running a service (financed by the government), which helped immigrant women to settle in Canada. She hired Ms. Saadi, who apparently was a devout Muslim. Six weeks later she let Ms. Saadi go for a cause. The latter filed a case with the tribunal citing discrimination on the base of race and religion, with main arguments based on the microwave policy and the dress code. She was reprimanded for using the microwave in the office to warm up foul smelling food (requirement that was applied to everyone). While she wore most of the time tasteful outfit compliant with her religion, one day she showed up in short skirt, strange anklet and leggings and even weirder hijab.
Since that was an organization promoting ways for immigrant women to fit into the Canadian society, Ms. Telfer disapproved of Saadi’s outfit.
Once the case reached the tribunal, the real fun began. As it is the custom, all of Saadi’s legal expenses were paid by the taxpayers. Telfer couldn’t afford a lawyer and had to represent herself. Just like most of us, she had very little knowledge of the legal procedures and the adjudicator Faisal Bhabha brilliantly took advantage of that. A key witness for Telfer couldn’t appear at the hearing because he had a family emergency, she tried to present a written testimony from him, but it was rejected. Bhabha never told her that she could get an adjournment of the case until the witness is available.
In the end of all that, she was found guilty and ordered to pay $36,000 to her accuser (great pay for 6 weeks of work). Since not many people have that much cash lying around, she was unable to come up with the money. At certain point the tribunal lost patience and tried to confiscate her house to cover the fine from the proceeds after it is sold.
Out of pure desperation, Telfer decided to appeal to a higher court, incurring even more legal expenses (over $10,000). The appeal was successful, the court reversed the tribunal’s decision and ordered Saadi to pay Telfer’s legal expenses. The tribunal said that they will make the payment for her.
It’s admirable that Maxcine Telfer was successful. If a white man was in her position, his house would’ve been sold long time ago letting him with the only option to reflect on his misfortune while waiting on the welfare line. And his accuser would be chilling out on a Bangladeshi beach (if sharia allows beaches).
The higher court decision provides a rare glimpse into what is going on within those sinister organizations called “Human Rights” commissions and tribunals. Probably not many reach the level of Telfer’s hopelessness that could motivate them to fight.
For those who care to learn from history, there is a striking similarity between the methods of those commissions and the medieval Inquisition. There is a book called The Malleus Maleficarum, which in the Middle Ages was the main manual on how to hunt and identify witches. It was written by two monks, apparently sexually deprived fellows with a taste for sadism.
One of the most “effective” methods to tell if a woman is a witch was to tie together her wrists and ankles (as it is shown in the contemporary picture below). Then the woman was thrown into a river. If she managed to come to the surface, she was definitely a witch and had to die at the stake. However, if she drowned, that was an evidence of her purity and innocence. Yes, it’s a tough lose-lose situation.
Do you see any difference between the poor “witch” and Maxcine Telfer? Telfer was tied and prevented from proving her case and eventually sentenced. In order to swim to the surface and get justice, she had to spend thousands of dollars. She was losing in both situations. (The HRC’s Malleum Maleficarum is the Abridged Policies and Guidelines of the OHRC, you can find them in the Annotated Ontario Human Rights Code by Adelyn L. Bowland. Once you read that text, you will understand why practically nobody has a chance of winning if accused). Read the rest of this entry »
Rush Limbaugh’s Chinese Impression
Rush Limbaugh is in hot water again. This time the reason was his impersonation of the Chinese President Hu Jintao.
He made fun of the speech Hu delivered during his last visit to the White House. Commenting on some mishaps in the transmission, Rush said: “He was speaking and they weren’t translating. They normally translate every couple of words. Hu Jintao was just going ching chong, ching chong cha.” After that he delivered a 20-second-long impression of the Chinese president’s way of talking.
That was it. The worst thing you can say about the impression is that Rush Limbaugh is a hack compared to Frank Caliendo or Dana Carvey. He is not the best impersonator in the world.
However, as with almost everything he says, the most astonishing result was the reaction, which he caused.
The lefty politicians didn’t miss the opportunity to strangle him. A California state senator of Chinese origin named Leland Yee (a Democrat) immediately let us know how appalling Rush’s comedy was. In an interview he said: “The comments that he made — the mimicking of the Chinese language — harkens back to when I was a little boy growing up in San Francisco and those were hard days, rather insensitive days. You think you’ve arrived and all of a sudden get shot back to the reality that you’re a second-class citizen.”
I admire the ability of the Left to turn a simple joke into a hate crime of apocalyptic proportions. How in the world can a Chinese impression make you a second-class citizen? So because the senator can’t deal with humour, we should ban it. It’s no wonder, humour is the first casualty of the inquisition funded by the political correctness.
But the senator didn’t stop at baring his sensitive soul to the world. He had a better trick up his sleeve. He started a campaign to convince advertisers to pull their support from Rush Limbaugh’s show. That is a vicious and pathetic attempt to silence free speech, but among the lefties it is a perfectly acceptable way to impose their policies.
If the senator hasn’t been living under a rock for the last few years, he should know that the comedy, which mocks the way people speak, is ubiquitous. Just ask the comedians who made a living from impersonating Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Saturday Night Live had its share of mocking Chinese leaders. And let’s not forget what Mad TV’s Bobby Lee made out of Kim Jong Il’s manner of speaking. Read the rest of this entry »
Russia’s Terrorist Problem
In the latest Muslim terrorist attack in Russia, a suicide bomber killed 35 people and wounded over 180. The location was chosen to maximize the impact of the attack – it was the arrivals area of the Domodedovo Airport, one of Russia’s largest airports.
This came after the devastating attack on the Moscow subway last year. About a month ago a similar attack was miraculously averted. Two Muslim women, who were supposed to blow up themselves during the New Year’s Eve celebrations couldn’t make it to their target – one of them accidentally exploded while preparing her suicide vest, the other one was arrested.
Just like all previous attacks, that one was a work of the Muslim extremists from the small Caucasus provinces in Russia – Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, etc. Their activities rose significantly after the Soviet iron grip on the country loosened up when Gorbachev came to power.
Unfortunately, in the 1990’s the hapless West contributed significantly to the strengthening of the Islamic extremism in Russia. The Chechens were viewed as “freedom fighters” and nothing was done to prevent countries like Saudi Arabia to finance them. Great Britain even provided political asylum to Chechen terrorists.
Chechnya and the surrounding lands have been a problem for Russia for centuries. The mountainous area provides very little opportunity for agriculture. It has always been populated by backward tribes whose main source of income has been robbery of the neighbouring countries. That was basically the reason that Russia took control over it in the XVIII century – to ensure the safe trade with Georgia.
Ever since that happened, there has been a constant struggle between Russia and those tribes. Their leaders have been trying for centuries to establish shariah rule. The temporary calm established by the Communist rule was interrupted when Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union.
While the whole country mobilized to fight Hitler, the Chechen Muslims were very quick to offer their collaboration to the invaders. Their guerrilla forces started to fight the Soviet Army so vigorously that significant number of units had to be relocated to the area instead of defending Stalingrad.
Like many other Muslim countries at the time, they went even further: the whole region of North Caucasus became a big source of the Muslim Waffen SS Divisions during World War II. Those units fought on the side of the Nazis against the Russians on the eastern front. They were just following the “shining” example of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and others like him, who provided Muslim fighters to destroy the anti-Nazi resistance in Europe.
When everything finished in 1945, Stalin didn’t forget about what they did. In his typical mode of large-scale vengeance he deported the entire Chechen and Ingushetian population. When Khrushchev came to power, he brought them back.
Do you see the pattern here? We are dealing with a treacherous culture, which does not hesitate to stab you in the back with the help of the darkest possible forces.
Now the situation is not much different. The Chechens are deeply involved in the Saudi pet project of establishing a shariah caliphate in Caucasus. They don’t shy away from using extortion, drug trade and simple theft to finance it (in addition to the Wahabi oil money).
It’s a losing battle to keep that hostile province in Russia. The country derives absolutely no benefit from fighting those backward tribes. Russia for once should swallow its pride and apply the best solution – grant them independence, send the Chechen troublemakers back to their country and seal off the border. Then treat the “caliphate” as an enemy state and just watch how well they will do in their mountains.
