Judy Rebick – Humanist of the Year (Not a Joke)

In its latest newsletter the Humanist Association of Toronto (HAT) proudly announced that this year’s recipient of their annual Humanist of the Year Award is Judy Rebick. Since the letter still has not been posted on their website, here is a picture of it:

There were times when I respected that organization for its dedication to reason and rational discourse and even ignored the fact that most of their events took place at OISE. It seems that HAT is rapidly deteriorating into one of the hundreds of lefty fringe organizations that pollute Toronto.

Once their award was given to people like Pierre Berton and Homa Arjomand, the anti-sharia activist from Toronto. The last year’s recipient was Heather Mallick, a Toronto Star columnist, who is known for her unique blend of emotional hysteria and militant leftist ignorance.

This year HAT’s standards were dropped even lower. Calling Judy Rebick a “humanist” is like calling Olivia Chow an intellectual of the year. For many years Judy has been at the forefront of the most leftist fringe movements and causes in Canada.

Her initiatives and writings do not have any connections to reason, humanism or reality.  She has been trashing every value and institution in Canada in the name of imposing her beloved Marxist dogmas. Judy Rebick has been a fierce supporter of the Israeli Apartheid Week, where she proudly stated that Israel is a shitty country that she hates. Without any doubt, her support for the deluded tent hippies prolonged the agony of the Occupy Toronto Movement.

Most importantly, she created the famous discussion network rabble.ca where hundreds of lefty activists can discuss and affirm each other’s opinions in a parallel universe, without the need to ever face the reality.  If the mental patients in Clarke Institute are equipped with computers with internet connection, the result of their interaction is not going to be that different from “Rabble.”

That HAT circus makes me wonder if there are any rational leftists left in Toronto…

It would appear that ‘HAT’ and its awards (not to mention the recipients) are becoming more irrelevant by the year. I had never even heard of this group until your post, which only reveals its insignificance in the real world.

I should admit that I was a member of the organization during the darkest times of political correctness, when their “rationalism” looked like a remedy to that madness. Things changed after I discovered the dark blogger undercurrent that sabotaged Section 13. With that undercurrent gradually becoming mainstream, the hypocrisy of organizations like HAT becomes more and more visible. Judy Rebick is one of the final nails in their coffin. (P.S. Still working on the article.)

There is no such thing as a rational leftist.

      You make a good point.
