The Olivia Chow campaign circus has just dived into a new low. Yesterday the mayoral candidate of the sophisticated urban elites was spotted dining with the former WWE wrestler Iron Sheik:
The Iron Sheik was set on meeting Toronto’s mayor on Saturday but ended up meeting with one of Rob Ford’s biggest rivals.
The legendary WWE Hall of Famer shared a table with Chow at a downtown sandwich shop hours before the world premiere of a documentary — The Sheik — chronicling his life.
According to his story, he requested a meeting with Rob Ford, but was turned down. The Rob Ford campaign says that the wrestler never made a request through the right channels and the Mayor had other events to attend.
Apparently, Olivia Chow would meet with anybody, who is willing to support her campaign. The Sheik wasn’t an exception:
“The Sheik’s personal story of overcoming hardship resonated with her, she said.
“I admire his guts,” Chow said. The decision to meet him was spontaneous, co-ordinated over Twitter just hours earlier, she added.
She later tweeted that while the wrestler is “controversial, he has imp(ortant) anti-drug message.”
In the video embedded in the Toronto Sun article, she praised him and described that weird character (who is not even Canadian) as one of the creative people that are important to all of us. It seems that it becomes a habit for Olivia to rely on the support of foreigners – like the recent appeal to residents of China, who abandoned Canada.
I am not sure how well the campaign management screens the personalities Olivia meets with, but if they screened them at all, she wouldn’t touch the rowdy wrestler with a ten foot pole. He is an uncontrollable wreck, known for his unruly behaviour, part of which has been showing his penis in public.
Maybe Rob Ford could get away (to a degree) with showing up next to such a character, but for the “sophisticated” Olivia this is unforgivable.
If you think I am questioning Olivia’s judgment of people, you can see here the Sheik’s antics during an appearance at the Howard Stern show. From the 10:00 mark he enters an insanity mode:
I caution you that it’s better to see the video only if you are not highly sensitive. Howard Stern is known to ride the top of the popularity wave by inviting plenty of strange people, but, still, the Sheik was one of the most vulgar brutes to appear on the show. One of his most frequently used words is “fuck”, which is part of his threats to anybody he doesn’t like, including Stern’s “Wackpack” member Beetlejuice, Jay Leno, Hulk Hogan and Donald Trump.
He is viciously homophobic – and I don’t mean it in the sense of the lame accusation thrown at anybody who disagrees with the homosexual lifestyle. The Sheik throws the gay insults to belittle and humiliate his rivals. For example, he says with contempt that Hulk Hogan is gay and he made his career wrestling in gay bars. Also, according to him, Michael Jackson was a higher-class gay, because he liked little boys.
During the interview the Sheik demanded beer and after he got drunk, he threw a bottle and hit the assistant-producer after an outburst over a gay issue.
After observing that insanity, the other guest – George Takei – asked the Sheik if he considered himself a good Muslim when he uses such vulgar language and exposes his penis in public. The wrestler got upset (though he didn’t throw a bottle at Takei) and said that he was a good Muslim – he prayed five times a day.
So let me get this straight – Olivia Chow boasts that she is a champion of the homosexual and tranny rights. She pushed hard for the acceptance of the “bathroom bill”. Yet now she has no problem meeting with and accepting the endorsement of a vulgar anti-gay bigot. Regardless of what one thinks about the homosexual lifestyle, seeing her associate herself with such a despicable person was disgusting.
Something tells me that this isn’t going to fly with the gay bars and among the artsy circles, who consider Olivia the new Toronto Messiah.
Looks like ethics is not her strong side…
